Company founder Jack Botma emigrated from his native Holland to Canada, living in Owen Sound before moving to Sarnia, where he first operated a small trucking firm. When the opportunity came to take over an existing septic system manufacturing company, he did so, eventually transforming the business into what has become Sarnia Concrete Products.

Company History

Humble beginnings? Perhaps. Especially if you consider our earliest days had us operating a small septic system manufacturing and installation business in what is now a residential subdivision in Sarnia.

But that was 1962 and SCP’s founder, Jack Botma, soon expanded into the manufacture of precast concrete products, including catch basins and manholes needed for a growing community.

Four years later, it was clear that the market was ready for another entrant into the ready-mix business, which occurred under the SCP banner.

By 1974, the original site was sold to the residential developers and SCP relocated to the industrial part of Sarnia.

In 1986, Sarnia Concrete Products reached out beyond the city environs to purchase EMC Ready Mix in nearby Wyoming and another ready mix operation in Forest, Ont.

In 1993, a significant need for concrete pumping services in the region prompted management to launch the concrete pumping division.

Three years later, SCP closed its Wyoming operation and built a new ready-mix facility in Forest.

And in 2005, Sarnia Concrete Products acquired a ready-mix facility alongside the St. Clair River , in the process locating its Sarnia base of operations.
